Looking for a great Switchboard Installation, Relocation or Upgrade on the Sunshine Coast?
Why it’s important to have a Switchboard that meets the current standards
Older style fuse-wire protection is now considered to be outdated and dangerous. Porcelain Fuse holders can become brittle, crack and break over time leaving exposed live conductors. Furthermore the wrong style Fuse wire could be installed which increases the chance of fire. A new Switchboard adds circuit breakers and safety switches offering more effective protection for the electrical cables in your home or business.
Since July 2008, the electrical standard states that a safety switch must be installed onto any new circuit 20amps or under or where an existing circuit is modified. It is also a requirement to have a minimum of two Safety Switches.
When Relocating your Switchboard, to meet the current standard it must be positioned on the front face of your house or it can be on the side within two metres of the front face of your house.
Another important factor to consider is space and allowing room for expansion. Additionally if your mains cable are too small you may not be able to add additional circuits for items such as Air Conditioners, Pumps and Solar. A new Switchboard address all of these issues allowing for expansion and makes the switch to Solar easy!
Kape Electrical can test your existing Safety Switches to ensure they are working correctly and can arrange for any faulty RCD to be replaced. We also offer a reduced price for a switchboard upgrade when you install a solar system with us. Ask us today!
